John Williams Returns to Tanglewood

{Saturday, August 19 and Friday, August 25} John Williams’ inimitable music returns to Tanglewood for two incredible evenings.

John Williams returns this month to Tanglewood for one of the venue’s most popular evenings: John Williams’ Film NightFeaturing the Boston Pops Orchestra, this historic concert will bring Williams and Boston Symphony Orchestra Music Director Andris Nelsons together on a shared conductor podium on Saturday, August 19. The night’s program will include classic cinema scores by Bernard Herrmann, Erich Korngold, and Alex North in addition to music from Williams’ own oeuvre. Expect selections from the Harry Potter film series, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Far and Away, and others. A special guest trumpet soloist will join the orchestra to perform samples from Williams’ score to Lincoln.

If you’re still hankering for more soaring melodies from the Boston Pops Laureate Conductor and Hollywood rock star, be sure to come back to Tanglewood the following Friday, August 25. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in Concert will see Williams’ score from that film performed in its entirety by the Boston Pops. Keith Lockhart, the Pop’s second longest-tenured conductor, will command the podium.
