Presenting a tasty tidbit about artist Susan Schwalb that our writer couldn’t fit into our October/November 2017 print issue.

Susan Schwalb has been called the Pied Piper of metalpoint, her chosen medium. The technique, at its core, is drawing with a metal point—but of course, there’s much more to it than that. “I hope more artists take it up,” Schwalb says. “If I’m able, with colleagues, to put out a technique book that will give more people information about the medium, then hopefully with enough images of non-figurative work, more artists will think this is something they want to play around with.”
