Pow! Wow! Worcester Brings Murals and More

{ Friday, August 25th – Sunday, September 3rd } POW! WOW! Worcester brings international murals and more to downtown.

It’s time to paint the town—a lot more than red as POW! WOW! Worcester brings international and local artists together to create murals and more all over downtown Worcester. The festival name references a type of culture-celebrating social gathering held by indigenous peoples. Last year the inaugural festival brought over 10,000 people and produced 16 murals throughout the city, and the week-plus event will return for a second year of gallery shows, lecture series, concerts, and live art installations on top of mural projects.

The festival appeals to a diverse audience with multiple styles of murals, providing local and international artists with a range of local building façades to design. This year’s festival runs from Friday, August 25 to Sunday, September 3. Additional events include an artist talk, film screening, art fundraiser, musical performances, and an outdoor celebration, all of which will take place throughout Worcester. POW! WOW! Worcester aims to make the city a more culturally dynamic place by activating spaces, engaging in the arts, and generating pride in the local community. 2017’s festival also plans to transform Elm Park Community School from a blank, imposing canvas to a lively place for its diverse student population to learn about and participate in the arts.
